The Three Spot Crab (Tikkari) is a prized crustacean found in the Arabian Sea. These crabs are easily identifiable by the three distinctive red spots on their shells. Although they are not as meaty as some other crabs. Due to their limited local availability and high international demand—especially from markets in China, Japan, and Thailand, these crabs are considered a delicacy. They typically weigh between 100-200 grams, though larger specimens can sometimes be found. Introduction

The Three Spot Crab, scientifically known as Portunus sanguinolentus, is a medium-sized, commercially prized species found in the shallow coastal waters of Pakistan. Recognizable by the three distinct spots on its carapace, this crab is also referred to as the “blood-spotted swimming crab” or “red-spotted swimming crab” . Despite its limited abundance in the Arabian Sea, its unique flavor profile and texture make it a sought-after delicacy in local and international markets.

Habitat:
The Three Spot Crab inhabits sandy to sandy-muddy substrates in shallow coastal waters, typically at depths ranging from 3 to 30 meters. Juvenile crabs are often found in mangrove areas and estuaries, while adults have been observed schooling in turbid waters .

Diet:
